List of Countries that Reported the Cases of Monkeypox

After the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Monkeypox is the recent virus outbreak. The World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that more than 80 confirmed cases of Monkeypox are reported so far and 50 pending cases are under investigation. The WHO warned that more cases are expected to be reported soon. Monkeypox is a common infection that is traced in Central and West Africa. There are reports that more than 100 cases are reported unofficially in the European countries. A top health official based in Europe told that the number will see a huge rise in the upcoming months.

WHO regional director for Europe Hans Kluge said that the cases would increase as it is a summer season and there would be a chance for mass gatherings and festivals. An emergency meeting was held on Friday to discuss about the outbreak of monkeypox. WHO discussed about Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on Infectious Hazards with Pandemic and Epidemic Potential (STAG-IH). The committee advises on the risks of the infection which is now posing as a global threat. As per May 21st, there were 92 confirmed cases of monkeypox and 28 suspected cases from 12 countries. The disease is not an endemic. United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Israel, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland reported the cases of monkeypox till date.
