Independence day usually marked as the most dangerous holiday of drunk-driving crashes. The most recent data of holiday weekend revealed that 164 people were killed in crashes involving at least one driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. That number shows almost half (41%) of all crash fatalities for the entire holiday weekend from 2014.
Around 43 million Americans will be traveling this Independence Day weekend. There is a possibity of even worse results. American Automobile Association and Budweiser have advised that people who have planned to celebrate away from home should choose a Designated Driver to stay where they are celebrating, or arrange another form of safe transportation.
Amy Stracke, Executive Director of the ACG Traffic Safety Foundation said, “Driving will already be a challenge with more motorists on the road this weekend than ever before, celebrating safely will help keep impaired driving out of the mix.”
For those who didn’t plan ahead, there will be Tow to Go available for a safe way home. Even if you are not a AAA member , can call for a Tow to Go ride anytime this Friday, July 1st upto 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5th. AAA will then transport you and your vehicle home or somewhere safe within 10 miles.
