During the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) revealed a collaboration with Google aimed at creating the Jamnagar Cloud region. This new cloud area, designed specifically for Reliance, will offer top-notch artificial intelligence (AI) and computing features powered by Google Cloud to boost AI use in RIL’s energy, retail, telecom, and finance sectors. The Jamnagar Cloud region will utilize eco-friendly energy from Reliance and connectivity from Jio’s network. Through this partnership, RIL will develop, construct, and operate a cloud center along with all necessary infrastructure in Jamnagar. The cloud region will fully meet the international standards and service requirements set by Google Cloud, making it suitable for complex AI tasks. At the 48th AGM, RIL mentioned that it would implement advanced AI solutions in this new cloud area. This initiative aims to support the company in upgrading its operations and fostering innovation, backed by Google Cloud. The facility will offer AI-focused services to corporations, small and micro businesses, startups, developers, and government organizations.

“By introducing Google Cloud’s AI functions to Jamnagar, supported by Reliance’s infrastructure, renewable energy, and nationwide network, we are creating a basis for India to emerge as a world leader in AI,” said RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani in a statement. At the Jamnagar Cloud region, Google Cloud will implement its AI hypercomputer and set up a secure, cohesive, and efficient technology system. According to RIL, the tech giant from Mountain View will provide generative AI models, development tools, and AI-driven applications. The facility will operate using RIL’s green energy projects for sustainable practices. At the same time, Jio will ensure fiber connectivity within and between metro areas, connecting the Jamnagar Cloud region to major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Additionally, RIL announced a partnership with Meta to create a joint venture (JV) involving a total investment of Rs. 855 crore. The two companies will work together in AI to create enterprise solutions based on the Llama model for various sectors including energy, manufacturing, media, retail, and telecom. However, further details were not disclosed.
