Indians Travel to ‘Give Themselves Some Time to Relax': Survey

If you think most of the travelers are just driven by excitement to explore the world, then you are completely mistaken - at least in case of Indians. Because, a survey reveal that majority of Indians travel for social status.

According to a study by Booking.com, 75 percent of those surveyed undertake a leisure travel, while 88 percent of Indians travel to ‘give themselves some time to relax.’

The survey, which was conducted between October 16 and November 2018, further revealed that 80 percent of surveyed people travelled to ‘rediscover past good times’, 79 percent people were driven by motivation ‘to experience a simpler lifestyle’, 76 percent ‘to get away from the demands at home’ and 75 percent revealed that for them the desire to travel was about ‘going to places where their friends have not been to.’

The study, which surveyed 53,492 people from 31 countries of whom 1,852 were Indians, revealed that major motivation to travel for most people across nationalities is to get some leisure time.

About 85 percent of global travelers wish to travel in order to get so me time to relax. For most French and Danish travel enthusiasts, ‘being free to act how I feel’ is a major motivation.

The study further reveals that about 83 percent Chinese and 76 percent of the Taiwanese travel largely to ‘experience simpler lifestyle’ while 73 percent Argentineans are driven by ‘nostalgia to rediscover past good times’. About 80 percent Hongkongers, 72 percent Germans and 66 percent Japanese are most likely to travel to ‘get away from the demands at home’.
