Jacksonville Sheriff's office said that eleven hostages had been rescued, and two other hostages had escaped on their own. No one had been reported injured.

The incident started with a gunman taking hostages inside a Community First Credit Union branch. As the situation unveiled, the suspect released a couple of hostages but continued to threaten people.

He said that the suspect had threatened to kill hostages multiple times and put a gun to the back of hostages' heads a couple of times.

At a point of time, two hostages tried to flee, which distracted the suspect, and thenn SWAT team members stormed into the bank, taking the suspect into custody according to Williams.

While the situation had been resolved peacefully, the victims, employees and bank customers were "shaken up”.

The suspect has not been identified as a bank employee. John Hirabayashi, the CEO and president of Community First Credit Union, said in a statement, "We are so thankful that today's hostage situation resolved itself in a safe way. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and membership."
