Mating now has a whole new meaning! Researchers at the University of Maryland suggest that sex makes humans smarter by making newer brain cells and increasing brainpower. Whoa!
What more, the report also states that having regular intercourse can counteract the effect of stress build up on the brain, also making it more alert and intelligent.
But then, while mating frequently can make you smarter, the converse is not necessarily true.
The Atlantic website reports: ‘Being smarter does not necessarily mean you’ll have more sex.Smarter teens, in fact, tend to delay the initiation of their coital activities.’
However, just making new brain cells is not enough.
Psychologist Tracey Shors told a Society for Neuroscience conference that hard work is needed to make these cells survive. Besides having sex and lots of exercise, one needs to do mental training to keep the brain alive and kicking. In that way, you can have the best of both the worlds.
