Maha Shivratri (the ‘Great Night of Shiva’) is celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva. Shivratri (Sanskrit ‘ratri’ = night) is the night when Lord Shiva is said to have performed the Tandava Nritya or the dance of primordial creation, preservation and destruction.
